Marking in the House

We have a weimereiner that will be three in August. We do not have any other dogs or do not have dogs that come into our house, but he has been marking two different spots in our house. One is our big screen TV. I know that the odor must be totally removed to keep him from remarking, but why do you think he does this to things in our house? Help!

Is he neutered? If not, this may be a factor. Also, what type of cleaner have you been using to remove the smell after he does mark?
